A coffee table is the working surface of your living room. It holds your morning kopi, your remote, your book, and the snack tray when guests come over. The right one suits the size of your sofa, the layout of your HDB flat or condo, and the climate it has to live through. This page brings together IUIGA's full coffee table range, including solid wood, sintered stone, rattan, and storage styles, all priced from $129.

Find the right coffee table for your home

Three things decide whether a coffee table works in a Singapore living room: the material, the size, and the shape. Pick the right combination and the table disappears into daily life. Pick the wrong one and you walk around it for years.

Most Singapore living rooms sit between 11 and 18 square metres. That is enough space for a single rectangular coffee table in front of a 3 seater sofa, or a smaller round table next to an L-shaped sofa. Bigger landed homes can take a nesting set or a 160 cm long centrepiece. The sections below walk through each decision.

Compare materials at a glance

Singapore's humidity sits between 70 and 90 percent year round. That rules out a few materials and rewards others. Here is how the five most common coffee table materials hold up.

Quick definitions for the materials above:

Sintered stone: an engineered surface made by compressing natural minerals under heat and pressure. Looks like marble, behaves like ceramic, resists scratches, heat, and water. See our sintered stone coffee tables for current models.

Solid wood: lumber cut from a single tree species (such as oak or walnut) rather than glued layers. Heavier, costlier, and longer lasting than engineered wood. Browse the solid wood range to compare oak and walnut finishes.

Rattan: a climbing palm woven into furniture. Light, breathable, and well suited to humid climates when the frame underneath is treated wood. Pairs naturally with our rattan seating range.

How to choose the right size

There is one rule worth remembering: the coffee table should be about two thirds the length of your sofa. Anything shorter looks lost in the room, anything longer crowds the walkway.

Two more numbers matter:

1.    Height: the table top should sit level with the sofa cushion or up to 5 cm below it. This makes putting a cup down a one-handed motion.

2.    Walkway: leave at least 45 cm between the table and the sofa, and the same again between the table and the TV console. Less than 45 cm and you will brush past it every time.

3.    Width: keep the table at least 30 cm narrower than the sofa on each side so cushions can extend past it.

Use the table below to match the table length to your sofa.

Pick a shape that fits your sofa

Shape is where personal taste meets layout reality. Round tables suit small spaces and homes with young children because there are no corners to bump. Rectangular tables give you the most usable surface and pair cleanly with a standard sofa. Oval and nesting sets sit between the two, with nesting sets working especially well alongside modular sofas in open plan layouts.

Shape

Choose this if

Rectangular

Standard 3 seater sofas

You want maximum surface area for trays, books, and dining in front of the TV

Round

L-shaped or sectional sofas

You have young children or want to soften a corner heavy room

Oval

Traditional sofas in narrow rooms

You want the surface of a rectangle without sharp corners in walkways

Nesting set

Modular sofas, small spaces

You host often and need flexible surfaces that tuck away

Frequently asked questions

What is the best coffee table material for Singapore's climate?

Sintered stone and tempered glass perform best in Singapore's humidity because they do not absorb moisture, swell, or warp. Solid wood and engineered wood also work well when sealed properly, which is the case for every wood piece IUIGA sells. Avoid untreated MDF and particleboard, which can swell at the edges over time.

How big should a coffee table be in front of a 3 seater sofa?

Aim for a table that is 120 to 140 cm long. A 210 cm three seater paired with a 130 cm coffee table follows the two thirds rule and leaves enough surface for trays, books, and a laptop without crowding the walkway.

Are coffee tables with storage worth it in a small flat?

Yes, especially in HDB flats where the living room often does double duty as a study or play area. A coffee table with a drawer, shelf, or lift top hides remotes, magazines, and chargers in the place you actually use them, instead of a separate cabinet on the other side of the room.

How much should I spend on a coffee table in Singapore?

Entry level coffee tables start around $129 for nesting sets and rise to $1,499 for sintered stone sets with two pieces. Most Singapore buyers spend between $400 and $700 on a single coffee table they expect to keep for five to ten years. Pieces in solid oak or walnut sit at the upper end of that range and tend to outlast cheaper alternatives by several years.

Round or rectangular: which works better in an HDB living room?

Round wins for HDB 3 and 4 room flats because there are no sharp corners in the walkway and the shape suits open plan layouts where the living and dining rooms share a space. Rectangular wins for HDB 5 room and condo flats with a longer sofa, where the extra surface area justifies the footprint.

Do solid wood coffee tables warp in Singapore?

They can if untreated. Every solid wood coffee table on this page uses kiln dried timber finished with a moisture resistant sealant, which keeps the wood stable in indoor humidity between 70 and 90 percent. Keep the table out of direct afternoon sun and wipe up spills quickly and it will outlast most homes.

How long does delivery take?

In stock items ship within 3 to 5 working days. Pre-order furniture pieces ship within 45 days. Delivery includes white glove service: unboxing and assembly in the room of your choice.
